Our Mission

ReThink Citizens is a youth-led nonprofit with the mission of educating and empowering today’s young people to create the digital world they deserve. By equipping young people with the education to live digitally healthy lives, giving young digital innovators the resources and community to pursue their ideas to make the internet better, and enabling intergenerational conversations about online safety, ReThink Citizens is building a healthier digital world in real time.

Inspiration

ReThink Citizens Founder and President Trisha Prabhu‘s journey to build a better internet first began over a decade ago, when, as a 13-year-old, she invented the concept for ReThink, a technology that has aimed to encourage youth to pause and rethink potentially harmful words online. ReThink ultimately became a rallying cry to reclaim our humanity online: Trisha’s message to ‘ReThink hate’ was shared with digital citizens around the world, and ReThink was featured at Google, The White House Science Fair, on the TED stage, and more.

Trisha strongly believes that her story isn’t unique–and that every young digital citizen can be a “ReThink citizen,” rethinking our digital status quo and building the internet youth deserve. It was with that vision in mind that she launched ReThink Citizens. The goal? Create the next generation of young digital changemakers. Trisha was especially moved to include the historically marginalized communities that are often left out of transformative social change efforts, despite being the most affected by pressing social issues.

"With youth at the forefront, we can revolutionize our digital world–for good."
